After much deliberation, the jury of six members (Prof. Dr. Tatjana Schneider, Dr. Christopher Dell, Olav Christopher Jenssen, Susanne Weichberger, Philine & Bhima Griem) selected the project proposals from nearly seventy applications of the following people:

Beat Gipp / Stine Otto

Helena Rafalsky / Jonanthan Heck

Laura Salerno

Leon Eixenberger

Each of the fellows will be a guest at the Künstlerhäuser for a period of three months and will explore the question of the fellowship site of the future in different ways.

The goal is to bring the individual approaches and positions into dialogue with each other and to establish an exchange among the fellows.

We look forward to working together and are excited about the process!

The project is supported by the Karin & Uwe Hollweg Foundation

Künstlerhäuser Worpswede invites applications for four Quarter Fellowships for 2021 on the theme of the Scholarship Site of the Future.

At Worpswede, a place steeped in tradition, we want to initiate a process that will involve asking questions about the future of art production: The conditions for a future-oriented, sustainable scholarship site are to be explored. In particular, we want to consider where and how art can be created, what funding conditions are needed for this, and what social relevance protective spaces have and need for artistic production.

We are looking for projects with hybrid approaches. We value experimental modes of expression and formats that transcend conventional disciplinary boundaries.

Artist duos and working collectives are welcome, as are partners and joint children (with additional payment of incidental costs).

The artistic direction of the Künstlerhäuser Worpswede accompanies the process and initiates meetings between the fellows, promotes exchange and dialogue about the results and experiences, and organizes a public presentation of the work at the end of the year in Worpswede.

What do the Künstlerhäuser Worpswede offer:
o A (rent & utilities free) living and working studio of about 35 sqm plus a separate bedroom as well as basic equipment (kitchenette, private bathroom with toilet).
o Living cost support of Euro 1.000 per month (sponsored by the Karin & Uwe Hollweg Foundation)
o Quiet and inspiring working atmosphere on the edge of the Teufelsmoor in the historic artists' village of Worpswede
o Contacts and network connections to other local and international artists
o Access (in the center of Worpswede) to a printing workshop "Die Künstlerpresse" and workshop use in the "Atelierhausgemeinschaft".
o Exhibition possibility in the project space "Albert Hall" as well as in the "Große Kunstschau Worpswede".

Application Requirements:
o Application is open to all practitioners (artists, architects, humanities & social scientists, etc.).
o Application with a concrete work project on the thematic background of a scholarship site of the future. Embedded in the topic are questions such as...
- what are the conditions for the production of art?
- what is the ideal place where art can be created?
- what role does the environment play (city vs. countryside, etc.)?
- what do contemporary funding structures have to look like?
o willingness to work in Worpswede for three months and to live in the Künstlerhäuser
o willingness to exchange with other scholarship holders
o Co-organization and participation in a public event
o Language skills in German and English
o There is no age limit

Dear members, supporters and friends of the KÜNSTLERHÄUSER

we need your help and would like to ask for your support:

Some of you have already seen it, some may even have been inside - we're talking about the Yakone Dome. This is a portable 75 square meter dome-tent that can be set up and dismantled in just four hours and has been a "guest" on the lawn of the KÜNSTLERHÄUSER for a month and a half. We would like to purchase this tent with your help for the association and for Worpswede.

We now know how important a common room is for a contemporary scholarship institution, i.e. a place where people can meet and exchange ideas. There is no such space in the KÜNSTLERHÄUSER and we want to close this gap with the help of the tent.

However, the dome-tent should not only be reserved for scholarship holders, but will also offer the opportunity to hold small public events such as readings, concerts, workshops, etc.

At the same time it is conceivable that the dome-tent will wander through our village and thus open up a diverse space for Worpswede. And how about if the dome-tent, as a satellite of the KÜNSTLERHÄUSER and figurehead for Worpswede, draws attention to us in other places in the republic ...

We hope for numerous donations and will keep you posted in the coming weeks.

Just take a look at our short project video:

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, viewing requests or need to talk to us!!

With kind regards
Philine und Bhima Griem
